are trails on our campus as well as the

during the winter right up the road. These
trails are less than moderate to moderate
in steepness and are ideal for nature
hikes. Trails are marked by signs, but
a compass is always a good idea.
Hiking Vermont's Highest Mountain
The trail system on Mt. Mansfield is maintained
by the Green Mountain Club. It is a network
of trails that is well marked and provides
some of the best hiking in North America.
Trails leading up to the top of Mt. Mansfield
climb almost 3000 vertical feet at a moderate
incline. The Mt. Mansfield network is
part of the Long Trail, which is a 265
mile trail system running from Canada
to Massachusetts.
The views are well worth the effort: From
the summit you can see west across Lake
Champlain to the Adirondacks and Mt. Washington
to the east. There are even overnight
cabins for the hearty hiker who wishes
to spend a night on the mountain.
Hiker's Tip: Allow yourself most
of the day for hikes to and from the summit.
Wear comfortable hiking shoes or sneakers.
We recommend bringing a lunch and plenty
of water on your hike.

area, the hiking lodges, other trails
on the Long Trail system and the Green
Mountain Club, visit www.GreenMountainClub.org
